School Council
At the beginning of the academic year, children that wish to be members of the school council apply to their class teacher and have the opportunity to speak to their peers to explain why they feel they would make a good councillor. We then carry out a democratic vote for our class School Councillors.
Each class will then have two representatives within the council for the academic year.
The school council at Buckfastleigh Primary School has a proven track record of fund-raising for various charities and have raised an incredible £700 for Comic Relief, over £450 for Children in Need, £350 for Macmillan Cancer Relief as well as nearly £200 for the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal.
In addition to fundraising, the school council representatives work closely with the PTA on a project that aims to benefit all of the pupils at Buckfastleigh Primary School, with the theme of this discussed and voted for at the first school council meeting each year.
